Pilot Terms
These are indicative terms, not the final agreement.
Everything below is a plain summary of the deal, for someone deciding whether to register. It may still change. The binding document is the Sundown Home Pilot Program Terms, which you accept at sign-up alongside the Data Access and Control Authority and the Privacy Policy. Where this page and that document disagree, that document is the one that counts. Registering now commits you to nothing.
This is a two-step process
Right now, this is a survey. Its job is to gauge whether there is enough interest to run the pilot at all, and to find homes and battery systems we can actually support. Answering it tells us about your setup. It does not sign you up to anything, and it does not oblige either of us.
If you are selected, we contact you for formal sign-up. That is the point at which anything becomes binding, and it is a separate written agreement — drafted and reviewed properly, not this page. It will include:
- The written terms of participation, in full.
- How and when you get paid, and what we need from you to pay you.
- Instructions for connecting your battery and authorising us to send it event schedules.
- Instructions for authorising your retailer to share your meter data with us, so the pilot can be measured.
You see all of that before you agree to any of it, and you can still say no at any point before or during the pilot.

The shape of the deal
Who you would be dealing with
Daydream Energy Pty Ltd (ACN 700 900 483, ABN 11 700 900 483). We are not an electricity retailer and not a market participant. We do not sell you electricity and we do not become a party to your retail contract.
What we would ask of you
That you let us connect to your battery through its manufacturer's app or cloud account, and that you leave that connection in place for the pilot. We expect around 6 events across the season, usually on hot late afternoons, with at least a day's notice each time. No hardware is installed and nobody visits your home.
What stays yours
Your retailer, your plan, your tariff and your feed-in rate — untouched. You set a reserve level and we do not discharge below it. You keep the ability to override or disconnect at any time, and using that override does not put you in breach of anything.
What you would be paid
Up to $200 per household across the season. It is a cap and not a flat fee: the amount depends on taking part — connecting your system, responding to events, and the energy actually shifted during them — and may be adjusted based on participation. We pay you directly. It is not a bill credit and it does not change your feed-in tariff. Payments may have tax implications, so seek your own advice.
Leaving
Any time, for any reason, with no exit fee and nothing to repay. If you leave partway through we pay you for the part you did. Email hello@daydream.energy and that is the whole process.
What we would ask you to tell us
If you move house, change retailer, replace or remove your battery, join another VPP or orchestration program, or lose internet at the property for an extended period. None of these are breaches — they just change what is possible, and we would rather know than guess from the data. If you move, the pilot ends for you rather than following you or transferring to whoever moves in, and we pay you for the part you did.
Registering is not a place in the pilot
There are 30 places. We confirm participants on a rolling basis during September 2026, and registrations close 30 September 2026. If you are selected we will send you the full written terms, and you decide then — registering now commits you to nothing.
Agreements you may already have
If your battery is enrolled in another VPP, or was installed under a Solar Victoria rebate or interest-free loan with conditions attached, or your electricity contract restricts third-party control, those terms come first. We ask about all of it in the survey and go through it with you before offering a place. It is your responsibility to check your own agreements, and ours to not put you in breach of them knowingly.
Your information
Covered by the collection notice on the survey and our privacy policy. In short: we use it to assess eligibility and run the pilot, it is stored by Amazon Web Services, and the only outside party it may be shared with is your electricity distributor — for selected participants who separately agree, and in anonymised form.
Still being settled
In the interest of not burying it, here is what we have not pinned down yet:
- What happens if the pilot is cancelled or shortened before it starts.
- Whether the published documents change after legal review. They have been drafted but not yet reviewed by an energy and consumer lawyer.
If any of it matters to your decision, email hello@daydream.energy and we will tell you where we have got to.
